DLS Society Award

The Dorothy L Sayers Society Young Ringer’s Award 2010 – for a student member of The Ladies’ Guild of Change Ringers.
This year’s award was presented to Felicity Lister – a Daventry ringer. Fliss has received a bursary to attend the Keele Ringing Course at Keele University (July 8 – 10th) and will be a member of the Stedman group with her husband, Dan.
The award was presented by Dame Norma Major, a member of the Society and a former ringer, at Bluntisham Church, near Huntingdon last Saturday. Unfortunately a celebratory quarter peal attempt, by fellow members The Ladies’ Guild came to grief but this did not dampen the enjoyment of the day. A short ceremony was held in the Church followed by a sumptuous tea in the nearby hall.

Quick update from the AGM 2010
What a beautiful day we had for a tour of countryside churches!
I didn't make it to all of the churches as I was on steward duty at Rothley with Janet Stevenson, and at Gaddesby with Val Kellitt, but I enjoyed the four I made it to, even if some of the ropes were a little long for those of us 6' and up! Ashby Folville was a lovely place to end up, nice bells, and such a pretty village.
But anyway, my job here is not to go through the day in detail, but to quickly summarise the comings and goings of the new committee make up, for those of you who either couldn't make it, or didn't write it down and now can't remember!
Guild President Jan Wyatt (elected previous, took office this year)
Guild Secretary Rosemary (Rosie) Mason (newly elected)
Guild Treasurer Carolyn Dawson (newly elected)
Independent Examiner of Accounts Sue Fisher (continued service)
Guild Archivist Mary Matthews (continued service)
Guild Webmaster Sarah Catherall (continued service)
Central Council Representatives Carolyn Dawson and Helen Webb (both newly elected)
Annual Report Compiler Margaret Ingman (continued service)
Contact details for all committee members are available on the National Contacts page.
Next year's meeting is due to take place in the North West district, we have been told it will be near to Kirkby Lonsdale.
See you all again soon I hope!

Wanted - Volunteers for Central Council Rep positions
Written by Carolyn Dawson Tuesday, 16 March 2010 19:46
Hello Ladies
It's me again! Just a reminder that, at this year's Ladies Guild AGM, we shall have two vacancies for Central Council representatives for the Ladies Guild.
Will you please ask all your members if anyone is interested in representing the Ladies Guild on the Central Council of Church Bellringers.
This entails attending the Central Council AGM on Spring Bank Holiday Monday each year and producing a short report to be given to our own AGM in June each year. It is a three-year appointment, at which time the representatives can offer themselves for re-election.
There is the opportunity to offer oneself for election to one of the many committees of the Central Council if there is a committee which is of particular interest.
An expense allowance is made by the Ladies Guild and, although the AGM is only one day, there is a ringing festival leading up to it for the whole weekend with outings; services of praise; a dinner and a celebration of all things ringing.
If you would like to know more, please contact Jan Wyatt

Please let me know if you have anyone who wishes to go forward for this.
Kind regards

Dorothy L Sayers Award 2010
Last Updated on Thursday, 04 March 2010 17:30 Written by Janet Stevenson Thursday, 04 March 2010 17:20
The Dorothy L Sayers Society has made an award again this year for a young member of the Ladies Guild to attend a Ringing Course. We are pleased to give this to Felicity Lister (Fliss) of Northampton District so that she can attend the Keele course in July 2010.
The award will be presented by Norma Major on June 26th at Bluntisham church in Cambridgeshire at 2pm.
It would be good to see as many members of the Ladies Guild as possible there to support Fliss and to ring afterwards.
Janet Stevenson
