Dear all, 24 March 2011
Enclosed with this newsletter are the Minutes of the ADM, to explain why there seem to be so many practices now! In response to concerns about travel time and costs and the fact that some practices may be over-subscribed, thus reducing ringing time, the District will split into two areas for practices only – Cambridgeshire & Essex (C&E) and Norfolk & Suffolk (N&S). The whole District will continue to meet together for quarterly meetings. It was agreed that this arrangement shall be tried for 6 months and reviewed at the September quarterly meeting. I want to stress that you can still go to a practice in one area if you live in the other; however, Betty continues to ask that if you wish to attend a practice in the N&S area, you please let her know beforehand. Her contact details are 01379 643293 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . In order to keep us together as a District, the Ringing Masters in each area will let you know through the newsletter on a regular basis what is being achieved and aimed for.
The other major change to practices and quarterly meetings was the day of the month they are held on. N&S will continue to meet on 2nd Saturdays and 4th Thursdays, C&E will provisionally meet on 1st Fridays and 3rd Saturdays (see below), quarterly meetings in 2011 will be held on 1st Saturdays. I hope you’ve all got that! There is still room for manoeuvre but hopefully things will be clearer in the coming months. Please also note the different start times.
Please also note the new reps in the Minutes – I will send their full details in the next newsletter when there’s more room!

Cambridge & Essex
Ringing Masters: Wendy Godden (01245 223873, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ) and Jackie Latham (01223 890898, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ) have decided on some special methods: Plain Bob/Grandsire Doubles, Double Oxford Minor and Primrose Surprise Minor. They say this sounds like too many, but as they’re not sure who’s coming and their capabilities, they needed to provide something for everyone. These may well reduce to two methods in the future when they’ve had a chance to talk to everyone. Wendy says that she doesn’t expect everybody to learn all the methods, just the one or two that are appropriate!
Friday 1 April
10.00-12noon Henham 6 bells 8-2-2 TL544285 CM22 6AN
Parking in the road, no toilet.
No Saturday practice because of the Essex Ringing Course – most of the Essex and lot of the Cambridgeshire members are helpers this year. Also, all C&E members are being canvassed for their opinions on practice dates – this will give Jackie and Wendy time to get responses back from the membership and tie down dates for May.
