Dear all,
Firstly a reminder that it doesn’t matter which county you live in, you can attend any of the practices in either area as you wish! The only request is that you phone or email Betty (see below) to let her know if you want to go to the N&S practices.
Cambridge & Essex
Ringing Masters: Wendy Godden (01245 223873, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ) and Jackie Latham (01223 890898, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ) We had a very enjoyable morning for our practice on 1 April, starting with refreshments and then making good use of the easy-going 6 at Henham. Liz Griffith-Jones, Tower Captain at Henham, stayed all morning and being a competent ringer was very helpful to us. Although the attendance was a little on the low side, we had sufficient capable ringers to be able to ring all of the methods advertised as well as Plain Hunt and Kent. As it was April 1st and spring, April Day and Primrose Surprise were very apt methods. Primrose (rung twice) went really well but we floundered a bit with the April Day. Maybe we left it too late in the day, when we were a bit brain-dead, or were we just April Fooling ourselves!
Although we rang virtually continuously all morning we ran out of time to ring Norwich, so we’re hoping that this can be added to the repertoire at the Cambs meeting. I think everyone went home happy, so a successful start to the new venture. (WG)

Norfolk & Suffolk
Ringing Master: Betty Baines (01379 643293, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ) The practice at Polstead was very well attended with approximately 20 members ringing a variety of methods, which included Single Oxford, Kent, Cambridge, St. Clements, Stedman, St. Simons and the old favourites Grandsire and Plain Bob Doubles. We also attempted Primrose and were pleased to get a fair way through it before it folded. It was a glorious day, and those members not ringing were able to sit outside in the sunshine and admire the view and some even had a little doze, which could indicate that the striking was not too bad. Sue Freeman, as always, made us very welcome with an ample supply of tea, coffee and homemade scones and cheese straws. Our next practice will be at Tostock on Thursday, 28th April. If we get enough perhaps we can try the Primrose again otherwise we will ring whatever those attending can manage. I would suggest that if there is something you would like to practice, please could you let me know by email so that it can be advertised in advance. In May as we have 8 bells at New Buckenham, I am hoping we can try to advance into some major methods i.e. Little Bob, Kent TB, Oxford TB and Cambridge Surprise, also Stedman Triples and Oxford Bob Triples (single oxford triples). I expect time will prevent us ringing all of them as I intend to alternate them with Plain Hunt on 7/8, Plain Bob Triples or Major and Grandsire Triples, and for those who would prefer to ring on 6 bells, Plain Bob and Grandsire Doubles can be included. The main thing is that everyone enjoys the practice and has a chance to ring what they are hoping to ring. (BB)
