To Scotland we flew
To meet friends old and new
On a beautiful Sunday in May;
Then at three o’clock
To Fettes we flocked
And the holiday got under way.

On Monday our Campbell
Gave some preamble
Then drove us to Glasgow in style;
To Paisley St James,
Past the Clyde, down the lanes
‘Til we stopped by the loch for a while.

Our lunchtime was spent
At Loch Lomond. We went
To buy J & C a small gift.
Teddy Stedman looked great,
But Christine was late,
And Carolyn really was miffed!

After Stirling, Dunblane,
And Alloa we came
With no chance to stop for a meal.
But in wonder we gazed
When we saw a boat raised
On the fabulous Falkirk Wheel.

At Leith where she’s moored
Round Britannia we toured.
We thought the Queen’s bedroom was lush.
We searched all around
‘Til the toilets we found
Then were able to have a “royal flush”.

The Dundee Old Steeple
Held most of our people
And interesting methods were called.
We thought it quite strange
That in spite of its name
It was neither a steeple, nor old.

The archway at Glamis
Needed skill and his charms
For Campbell to coax the coach through.
We clapped and we cheered
As the castle we neared
(And the tour was very good, too).

We counted pink sheep
As we dropped off to sleep.
In the morning we set off at nine.
To the north we beheld
Inverness and Dunkeld;
Drove back south in rain and sunshine.

In the evenings we’d chat
(About ringing and that);
Then fortunes were lost and won
As the cards were all dealt
And everyone felt
“Chase the Ace” was such Jolly Good Fun!

It’s been a great week;
For us all I can speak.
We’ve clearly enjoyed every day.
So to Carolyn and Jan
(With whom it began)
We say “Thankyou, Hip-Hip and Hooray”.
